System structure

To create images, the systems involved in the creation process must meet certain requirements. Depending on where the data that you want to store is located (in other words, on a computer of an operating system that supports octoplant or on a computer of an operating system that does not support octoplant), and where you want to store the disk images you create (in other words, in a server archive against external storage), these requirements can vary.

The following section provides you with use cases and associated processes:

Scenario 1: The data to be backed up is located on a computer, the operating system of which is supported by octoplant. The disk images have to be stored on an external network drive.
