Emerson PAC Machine Edition (formerly GE Proficy Machine Edition)
octoplant supports the administration of Emerson PAC Machine Edition projects and enables cyclical monitoring of devices projected with this development environment.
Up to version 9.5, the supported software is called GE Proficy Machine Edition. In this tutorial, we will however solely refer to the software as Emerson PAC Machine Edition to avoid confusion. This also applies to GE Proficy Machine Edition for older versions.

Requirements
- When uploading Emerson PAC Machine Edition, we recommend that you use octoplant agents. The settings that apply to servers also apply to agents.
- A valid installation of Emerson PAC Machine Edition is required on the octoplant server or octoplant agent.
- The octoplant server or octoplant agent needs to be executed using a local system account with the option Allow data exchange between service and deskop (user activity) activated.
- If you are using multiple versions of Emerson PAC Machine Edition or GE Proficy Machine Edition, you need a separate octoplant Upload Agent for each version.
Restrictions
- PC targets and panel targets are not supported.
- Changes to Diagnostic Logic Blocks, FAT/SAT, supplemental files of a PLC target are not recognized.
- Current values of the variables are excluded from the backup and version and from the backup comparison.
