Install gateway for net transitions
If your SINUMERIK system is only connected to the internal machine network, then the NCU for octoplant is only accessible via the PCU (HMI-PC). In this situation, install the Gateway on the PCU (HMI-PC).
The following shows the gateway installation for a SINUMERIK 840D solutionline with an INI file suitable for the example.

Important information for Gateway
- A maximum of one gateway can be active on a single computer.
- When configured correctly, the gateway can complete a wide range of tasks (e.g. configure the communication route to Agents and a CSC gateway for clients).
- The gateway is usually installed on the HMI of your SINUMERIK 840D.
- You can configure the gateway in the VDogGateway.ini file.
Assigning IP Addresses
The following tutorial is valid for SINUMERiK Solutionline (Standard connection path(0346) PC→[TCP/IP] -> Gateway-> [TCP/IP]→NC).
The IP address of the octoplant server, the IP addresses of the clients, and also the IP address of the NCU are entered in the VDogGateway.ini file. Because the octoplant server does not include the NCU perspective of the client’s role, you need to assign the ID addresses accordingly:

After successfully installing the versiondog Gateway, start the service VDog Gateway again.
