What's new in octoplant 101.2.0 (June 2023)¶

The following table shows the optimizations made in the current octoplant version.

Setup, migration and update¶

The latest changes increase the stability and efficiency of the update / migration of the server system.

• Update of the database version to PostgreSQL 15:

• Update of the Server and BackupClient

  This means that the Server and BackupClient can only run on 64bit systems (newer than Windows 7). Official release from Windows Server 2019 and Windows 10 V2.

  • Adaptation of the third-party libraries (incl. OpenSSL 1.1.1t)

  • Stabilization of database migration from Firebird to PostgreSQL
  • Stabilization of data exchange between the octoplant Server and the octoplant hub

User management¶

It is important for administrators to be able to manage their users efficiently and intuitively. This service is now improved.

• Exported data from User management now also contains previously deleted Users, which can be displayed in the octoplantoctoplant hub

• Optimization of the LDAP connection: User group membership adjustments can be correctly transferred

• Improved user handling to increase security

Usability/Interface¶

We have adapted the interface for easier and more secure handling and access to information.

• From Version 101.2.0, we offer the new octoplant pro hub as a SAAS solution. The innovative BI tool is based on Microsoft Power BI Embedded and is hosted in Microsoft Azure Europe. New features (selection): You can choose between the octoplant pro hub with advanced BI functionality and the octoplant hub with basic BI functionality (on-prem).
  • Professional reporting and business intelligence functions for your OT data management
  • Advanced analysis functions, such as drill-downs and flexible filter options
  • Create your own cross-location reports and customize predefined reports

Interfaces¶

We are constantly optimizing the corresponding interfaces to improve the interaction of various product components.

• Optimization of the connection to the Claroty CTD Server to ensure increased security and improved data handling at. In the course of this, the configuration of the connection was also simplified. The token can be updated in the AdminClient.
• Extension of the interface between the octoplant Server and the octoplant pro hub New feature (beta version): Extended asset and CVE information (only available in the Premium package)

System performance/stability¶

Stable and efficient software is the be-all and end-all for us and is improved by the following adjustments:

• Exception handling when exporting asset information and processing older inventory data
• Increased system stability and performance when exporting Job results The export does not run into a Timeout even with larger data volumes and can now also be exported as a JSON file
• Stabilization of the existing connection to Claroty
• Execution of an external pentest by Outpost24 completed with positive results
• Performance optimization of the VDog MasterService so that it now starts faster
• Stabilization of the job configuration: longer job names can also be used
• Drive Snapshot: Update so that special characters can also be used for FTP passwords
• Elimination of the dependency on Microsoft DirectX 11 to simplify installation
• Stabilization of the Check-Out process so that it also works with a slow network connection
• AutoCheckOut: Backups can be checked out again with

• Stabilization of internal security handling so that the octoplant Server runs properly even on slower host systems

Miscellaneous¶

We have also made adjustments in other areas to improve your user experience.

• Continuation of the modernization of the octoplant Server In connection with this, the license format was changed from .bin to_.json. With this release, only JSON License files can be imported via the Licensing dialog. The information output in the dialog box has been adapted accordingly.
• Adaptation of the usage information exported from the Server so that it contains anonymized client information.
• Bug fix in the Licensing dialog so that the product version is displayed correctly
• Exception handling when collecting asset information that is transferred to AMDT if the corresponding option is activated in the AdminClient.
