Basics of network technology¶

This chapter is about deepening your understanding of networks.

For the secure use of octoplant, we recommend that current IT security concepts are adhered to. As this cannot be achieved by the AMDT, we would like to give you some basic recommendations here. This is a security concept that meets the minimum security requirements for the use of octoplant.

The octoplant server should be located within a network secured by a state-of-the-art network. This includes firewalls as well as IDS / IPS systems. We recommend making the firewall rules as strict as possible and therefore provide a detailed list of the ports used.

Due to the constantly changing threat situation in IT, the use of anti-malware products is essential. We also recommend the installation on the octoplant server, whereby appropriate exception rules must be made for the VDog MasterService so that the normal process is not affected.

In addition, we recommend that every customer carries out their own security assessment and creates corresponding IT guidelines.
