Terms: Check-In and Check-Out¶
During Check-In, changes that you have saved as a new version are copied to the octoplant server. Before Check-In, the system checks whether the working directory is identical to the last version. There is no Check-In if the version on the server is newer than the local version.
The basic prerequisite for performing a Check-In is that the user has write access to the component.
During Check-Out, the current version or versions of a component (e.g. an S7 project) are copied from the server archive to the client archive (working directory) on the local PC.
- Complete components are always checked out. Parts of a component cannot be checked out. Several/all components can be checked out at one Check-Out.
- Components can only be checked out if there is a connection to the server.
The Check-In/Check-Out process is carried out at the same time as the versioning process. Several components can be selected via a dialog and then checked in/out. However, this is only ever done as a whole; individual project components or individual files for a Check-Out, for example, cannot be selected.
