Terms: Check-In and Check-Out
Check-In
During Check-In, changes that you have saved as a new version are copied to the octoplant server. Before Check-In, the system checks whether the working directory is identical to the last version. There is no Check-In if the version on the server is newer than the local version.
The basic prerequisite for performing a Check-In is that the user has write access to the component.
Check-Out
During Check-Out, the current version or versions of a component (e.g. an S7 project) are copied from the server archive to the client archive (working directory) on the local PC.
The octoplant system's Check-Out function is based on the following principles:
- Only complete components can be checked out.
- Individual parts of a component cannot be checked out.
- Multiple components can be checked out during a single Check-Out procedure.
- Components can only be checked out if there is a connection to the server.
The Check-In/Check-Out process is carried out at the same time as the versioning process.
