Example: Opening ports on the server computer
This procedure opes up the ports on the server computer itself. Your IT department must ensure that these ports are accessible through the network from any client computer.
- First run the windows firewall with Advanced Security or select advanced settings from the windows firewall control panel.
- In the Inbound rules area, create a new Inbound rule.
- On the Rule Type page, select the Port option ands select Next.
- On the Protocols and Ports page, enter a specific port in the Specific local ports field (e.g., 8443 for octoplant nginx webserver) and select Next.
- On the Action page, select the Allow the connection option and select Next.
- On the Profile page, select all options (default), to apply the rule for various usages, and select Next.
- On the Name page, enter a name for the new rule and finish the process.
Repeat this process for every port required.
