Install clients

  1. Run the octoplantClient_Setup.exe application as administrator.

    If you only want to install the Octoplant clients for the currently logged-in user, you do not need administrator rights. In this case, other users of this computer will not be able to use the clients.

    BackupClient

    To install the BackupClient, run the octoplantBackupClient_Setup_exe application as administrator. The other Octoplant clients are also installed on the same computer, if selected.

  2. Select the language in which you want to perform the installation.

  3. On the license agreement page, agree to the license terms to continue with the installation.
  4. Select Advanced to make various user-specific settings or Install to run the installation without further settings.

Tip

If you select Install directly, the installation will run without further user interaction.

  • The standard clients will be installed.
  • The program files will be stored under C:\Program Files (x86)\AMDT\octoClient.
  • A separate client archive will be created under %USERPROFILE%\octoplant\ClientArchive for each user of the computer.

Advanced installation options

  1. Select Advanced.

  2. Choose Installation Scope.

    • Install just for you (logged-in user)

      The program files are stored under %USERPROFILE%\AMDT\octoClient. The client archive is located at %USERPROFILE%\octoplant\ClientArchive.

    • Install for all users of this machine

      The program files are stored under C:\Program Files (x86)\AMDT\octoClient. Each user has their own client archive at %USERPROFILE%\octoplant\ClientArchive.

    If you ran the applications as an administrator, you can customize the destination directories for the program files and the client archive.

  3. On the Product Features page, you can choose the clients to install.

    The following clients are installed by default:

    • UserClient
    • AdminClient
    • EasyClient
    • ReportClient

    LibraryManagement and the MSVCR1 library for Schneider Concept are not installed by default, but can be selected as needed.

    You can change the selection if you click on the icon next to each client and selecting one of the context menu entries:

    • Will be installed on the local hard drive to install the client
    • The entire function will not be available to skip the installation of the client

    The storage space required for the selected functions is displayed below the function selection area.

  4. Select Install.

After installation

  • Shortcuts for the clients are displayed on the desktop and in the Windows Start menu.
  • The program files are stored in the selected directory.
  • When you start a client for the first time and configure a connection to the server, the client archive is created in the specified directory.
