Installing a single instance for all users
Prerequisite
- You must be logged into Windows as a local administrator or a domain administrator with equivalent privileges, or have credentials to temporarily elevate permissions using Run as Administrator.
Launching the installer

If the logged-in user has administrator privileges, double-click
octoplantClient.msi
to launch the installation wizard in the Windows default language. -
If the user lacks administrative privileges, right-click
octoplantClient_Setup.exe
, select Run as administrator, and enter the administrator credentials. This grants permission to launch the wizard and install the client for all users.

To open the wizard in a language other than the Windows default, double-click the file octoplantClient_Setup.exe
, select your preferred language, and the wizard will launch in that language.
Using default paths
- If upgrading from a previous version, respond to any prompts regarding use of the existing Client Archive, removal of previous version(s), etc.
- Accept the license agreements.
- Select Install.
- The installation completes automatically.
The program files are installed for all users in: C:\Program Files (x86)\AMDT\octoClient
Every user has their own client archive in: %USERPROFILE%\AMDT\ClientArchive
Modifying default paths
- If upgrading, respond to prompts about retaining the existing Client Archive.
- Accept the license agreements.
- Select Advanced.
- On the Installation Scope page, select Install for all users of this machine.
- Select Next.
- On the Destination Folder page, choose a folder for program files.
The default folder for the program files is:C:\Program Files (x86)\AMDT\octoClient\
- Select Next.

On the Archive Folder page, choose a location for the client archive.
The default folder for the client archive is:C:\ClientArchive\
Leaving this field blank sets it to%USERPROFILE%\AMDT\ClientArchive

The Client Archive folder name must not contain Chinese characters. If a Client Archive name is specified with Chinese characters, it will be ignored. The system will automatically use the default Client Archive path instead.

Select Next.
- On the Product Features page, select which features to install.
- Select Install.
- The Product Features page will then open. Here, you select which product features are to be installed.
Below the feature selection area, the storage space requirement for the selected features is displayed. - Select Install. The installation process starts.
Post-installation
- Shortcuts for the clients appear on the desktop and in the Windows Start menu.
- Program files are stored in the selected folder.
- The first time you start a client and configure a server connection, the client archive is created in the specified folder.
