WebClient installation
This topic describes how to install the WebClient on the Octoplant server.
Prepare the WebClient installer
- Download the WebClient setup package from the Downloads Octoplant page on the myAMDT user portal.
- Extract the files to the computer where the Octoplant server is installed.
- Right-click the
octoplantWebClient_Setup.exefile, and then select Run as administrator. - When prompted, enter the administrator credentials to start the wizard and install the WebClient on the server.
Install the WebClient

Select your preferred language. The wizard starts in that language.
The WebClient installation wizard is currently available in English, German, and Spanish.

Accept the license agreements, and then select Next.

Review and, if necessary, modify the host name and HTTPS port for the web server.

When installing the WebClient, the Octoplant server, VDog MasterService, is terminated and restarted several times. During this time, the Octoplant server is not accessible for any clients. Depending on the amount of data stored on your Octoplant server, this can take between a few seconds and several hours. If your Octoplant server is actively used, install the WebClient only during planned server downtime.

Select Install.
During the installation, the VDog MasterService is restarted several times, the
server.inifile is modified, and the required services are created and started. These actions occur in the background and do not require user interaction. -
Add the necessary exceptions to the server firewall according to the instructions in the installation wizard.
Tip
The URL for accessing the WebClient is displayed in this dialog. To save the URL and the instructions for future reference, select Save.

The installation completes automatically.
- The program files are installed for all users in the
octoWebClientsubfolder under the Octoplant server installation directory, for exampleC:\Program Files (x86)\VDogServer\octoWebClient.
Access the WebClient after installation
- A desktop shortcut is created that opens the browser with the URL to the installed WebClient. You can access the WebClient by using this shortcut. You do not need to enter the URL manually.
- To access the WebClient from other computers in your local network, you can use the same URL, create a desktop shortcut, or create a browser favorite for easier access.
- Access credentials are the same as those you use to log in to Octoplant.
Tip
To bookmark the WebClient, log in to the WebClient at least once before you save the bookmark.
When you open the WebClient for the first time, the URL uses port 64023. After you log in, the port changes to 8443.
If you bookmark the URL before logging in, the bookmark saves the URL with port 64023. The login window opens, but after you log in, the following error appears: "Access denied".
