Moving a server

To move a octoplant server, proceed as follows:

  1. Stop the VDog MasterService.
  2. Uninstall the octoplant server
  3. Copy the server archive to the new storage location.

If you are working with a remote archive, the local server archive must also be transferred from the old to the new server, as it contains the required metadata. In addition, the new local server archive created during the installation should be renamed before the migration in order to replace the new setup directories (client and agent setup) contained in the old server archive. Make sure that the remote archive is accessible after the octoplant server has been moved.

  4. Reinstall the octoplant server with the existing server archive.

  5. If the directory structure of the new server differs from the old server, this can be adjusted in the Server.ini file ({server archive} > VD$A > Configuration) in the [Common] section in the following keys:
    • 5508: Path to the remote server archive
    • 5509: Path to the client setup
    • 5521: Path to the agent setup
