Automatic coupling of the agents with the server

After installing the agent, the agent must be paired once with the server that uses the agent,. Tokens are automatically created and exchanged between the server and the agent.

By default, the pairing takes place automatically when the octoplant server connects to the agent for the first time.

Agents that have not yet been paired with a server are first run in initialization mode. This is displayed on the agent computer as a message in the Windows event display.

You can see which server the agent is permanently connected to in the agent archive in the file VD$A\Configuration\Local\AccessTokens.txt.

Example of a token:

CDMPWD1IE[...]g;User;192.168.1.147 [19/Oct/2020:21:15:36 +0200] "AUVESY.VDOGSERVER"

The entry consists of the following columns:

  • Token Code (example entry): CDMPWD1IE[...]g
  • IP address of the paired computer: 192.168.1.147
  • Pairing time: 19/Oct/2020:21:15:36 +0200
  • Name of the paired computer: AUVESY.VDOGSERVER

FAQ

Error message when running the agent or testing the connection to the agent

The error message Error calling a remote function (function: CSC_FUNC_ID_COMMON_AuthenticateToken) indicates that the server and agent have not been paired correctly or must be renewed, for example because the paired server or agent has been replaced by an image that was created before was paired. Please unpair as described in the section Unpairing the agents with the server. The next time the server connects to the agent, the pairing will take place automatically.
