Assign compare agents for version comparison

Use this procedure to assign a compare agent to specific components in the UserClient, for example when you create new versions and the required editor software is not installed on your PC.

Info

The compare agent is used only to compare versions of the component content. It does not handle backups or comparisons triggered by jobs.

  1. Open the UserClient.
  2. Select the component that will use a compare agent.
  3. Go to the Edit tab and select Select compare agent.
  4. In the Select a new agent dialog, choose the agent that you want to assign for version comparisons.
  5. Select OK.

  • The server distributes these settings to all client computers.

  • To prevent inconsistencies, only one UserClient can have the Select compare agent dialog open at a time.

  • If it is already open in another instance, an error message appears.
