Migrate from versiondog to Octoplant
This topic explains how to migrate an existing versiondog system to Octoplant.
When you migrate from versiondog to Octoplant, all data from the old system can be transferred, including components, versions, component types, jobs, users, and settings.
Info
You can find the hardware and software requirements for Octoplant under Installation requirements.
Requirements for migration
- Before the migration, create a consistent data backup as described under Backup data and Maintenance mode.
- You must update versiondog to 9.7.2 before the migration.
- An additional port, TCP 64023, is required to migrate an older versiondog version to Octoplant 101. See Ports used by default for a complete list of the required ports.
Migrate Octoplant server installation
- Copy the Octoplant software package to the computer on which the versiondog server is running.
- Start the migration by double-clicking the
Setup.exefile contained in the Octoplant software package. - The Octoplant installation wizard starts.
- The subsequent installation steps are the same as for updating to a new versiondog or Octoplant version. For a description, see Update the server.
Migrate Octoplant client installation
A separate installation of the clients is not necessary. As soon as you start one of the previous versiondog clients, the Update versiondog message is displayed. If you confirm this message with Yes, SmartUpdate updates the clients. Alternatively, the clients can be updated manually through the Setup.exe file or through a script/MSI package.
For more information about updating the clients, see Update clients.
