AdminClient
The AdminClient is your central tool for managing and configuring your entire octoplant system. Designed for both administrators and advanced users, the AdminClient provides a clear, modular interface to help you efficiently perform all key administrative tasks.
With the AdminClient, you can:
- Create and manage users and groups: Easily assign rights and synchronize user data.
- Configure jobs and devices: Set up automated tasks and manage device connections.
- Monitor system health: Access dashboards, event logs, and maintenance tools to keep your system running smoothly.
- Customize system settings: Adjust global and specific options to fit your organization’s needs.
- Automate processes: Manage scripts and notifications for streamlined workflows.
The AdminClient is available on any PC where a octoplant client is installed, giving you flexible access to administrative functions at any time. Even users without full administrative rights can access specific modules, depending on the permissions you grant.

If you’re new to AdminClient, start by exploring the menu bar and the main modules described below. Each module focuses on a specific area of system administration, making it easy to find the tools you need.
Menu bar
You can use the menu bar to log out or close the AdminClient and display help and other information about octoplant. The following functions are also available here:
- Licensing: activate octoplant, display license information, update license
- Edit INI files and make additional settings in them
- Create support package so that AMDT Support can help you with your problem
Modules
You can perform these functions in the individual modules:
- Jobs: Save device data (create, configure and execute jobs)
- Component type editor: Create, change and delete component types
- User management: Create users and groups, assign rights, synchronize
- Script management: Create and manage scripts
- Global settings: Configure the server
- Event log: Display server events
- Maintenance mode: Back up server archive in consistent mode
- Archive manager: Clean up server archive
- Server synchronization: Configure synchronization of two servers
- System dashboard: Perform server analysis
Setting the timeout for individual modules
In the Global settings > Clients tab, you can define a timeout after how many minutes without user activity the AdminClient modules are automatically closed and thus released for other users. Unsaved changes are lost in the process.

The timeout does not apply to the Event log and System dashboard modules.
