Creating a new component type

  1. Select the Create button in the menu bar on the Start tab.

  2. A new component type is created.

    • If no directory is selected in the Component type library, the new component type is created at the bottom of the directory tree.
    • If a directory is selected, the new component type is created in this directory.
    • To create a new directory, enter it in the Hierarchy field. The new component type is categorized accordingly.

  3. Enter a unique name for the new component type in the Name field.

  4. If you want to use a custom icon for the new component type, you can upload it to the application at Symbol: > Select > Open....
  5. Activate the Release for use checkbox. If this checkbox is deactivated, the component type can no longer be used. It is displayed in gray in the directory tree and the name in red font.
  6. In the Default upload type dropdown menu, you have various upload types to choose from. Here you configure the Upload type that matches components of the new component type (e.g.: Network (UNC)).
  7. If necessary, adjust the master data of your component using the Edit labels button in the menu bar.
  8. Configure the comparison and storage-specific settings.
  9. Select Save in the menu bar.
