Assigning group roles

This function can be used to assign a group without administrative rights access to all modules in the AdminClient, with the exception of the User Management module. For example, users can be authorized to configure and execute jobs, but not to change the global server settings. In this way, tasks and responsibilities can be better distributed to individual employees.

The Easy Asset Integrator feature can also be used with the corresponding checkbox.

Assign a group access to a specific Module or the Easy Asset Integrator

  1. Open the User Management module.
  2. In the left-hand area under Groups, select the group whose rights you want to edit.
  3. Click on the Group roles tab in the right-hand area.
  4. Activate one or more checkboxes for the corresponding AdminClient modules or for the Easy Asset Integrator.

  5. Save the changes.

To revoke the rights of a group, deactivate the corresponding checkbox and save the change.

The group roles for two groups cannot be changed by default:

Group Role Description
All Users Every octoplant user is automatically a member of the group All Users. For this reason, all the checkboxes corresponding to the AdminClient modules are deactivated.
Administrators octoplant administrators always have access to the entire system. For this reason, the group Administrators has access to extensive administrative privileges that cannot be revoked.

Warning

With the Script management group role, any program code and actions can be executed on the server, the connected agents and all clients using this server. Therefore, please note carefully to whom you assign this group role, e.g. by requiring the same relationship of trust to this person as to an administrator.
