Activating the configuration¶
Once you have created one or more configurations in the Active Directory binding dialog, they have to be activated to carry out an automatic or manual import. No import is possible without activation. After activation, the automatic import starts daily at the time specified in the configuration dialog for the Active Directory connection.
Info
If the Activate button is already activated and you add a new configuration for the Active Directory connection that should also be active, you have to deactivate the Activate button once and then activate it again.
You can activate the Active Directory connections using the Activate button in the Synchronization tab in the menu bar. All Active Directory connections for which the Enable cyclic sync checkbox is active are activated now. The Activate button is highlighted.
Info
If the Active Directory connection is activated, only the import options, the users and the password can be changed in the configuration dialog. All other settings in the configuration dialog can no longer be changed.
The automatic import starts at the time set in the configuration dialog for the Active Directory connection. The following applies in general:
- Users and groups newly imported into octoplant are highlighted in color in User management and are write-protected. To remove write protection and color highlighting, the Active Directory connection must be deactivated. To deactivate the Active Directory connection, click on the Activate button on the Synchronization tab in the User Management of the AdminClient (if the Active Directory connection is deactivated, the Activate button is not highlighted in orange).
- Users with versiondog or AUVESY as part of the names (in upper or lower case) are not imported. They are ignored during import.
- The number of users that can be imported depends on the license purchased. For license questions, please contact us.
- Groups that are imported via the DN "All Users" group field and do not yet exist in octoplant are newly created during import and initially have no rights. The corresponding users of the groups also have no rights initially. The imported users are assigned to both the newly created group and the All Users group in octoplant.
- Users that are imported via the DN "Administrators" group field are automatically assigned to the Administrators group in octoplant. Furthermore, the imported users are also assigned to the All Users group in octoplant.
