Checking out components¶

During Check-Out, the current version of a component is copied from the server archive to the client archive (working directory) on your local computer.

The Check-Out step in the navigation bar of the workspace is automatically selected if you select a component in the Project tree that is not yet available locally, but only on the server. This is indicated in the Details area with the icon.

If the Details tab shows you with the icon that the local version does not correspond to the version on the server, you can also check out the current version of a component that already exists locally.

Components can only be checked out if there is a connection to the server, i.e. the button above the Project tree is activated.

Procedure¶

1. Select the component in the Project tree.
2. If the component is not yet available locally, the Check-Out view is displayed directly in the workspace. If the component is already available locally and you only want to check out a current version, you must switch to the Check-Out view in the navigation bar.
3. In the Check-Out view, click the Check-Out button in the center or press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+O.
4. The Check-Out dialog shows the progress and is hidden when the check-out is complete.
5. The component is displayed in black in the Project tree and the icon is displayed in color. The view in the workspace changes automatically to Edit.
