Editing projects
Edit your project as usual. octoplant does not affect this work in any way. During editing, consider the following:
- The working directory of the client archive on your local PC is the location of the project or file that you are currently editing.
- Use the key combination Ctrl+E to open your file manager (e.g. Windows Explorer). Next, in the working directory, navigate to the element that is currently selected in the Project tree.
- Changes that you make and save are only saved locally in the working directory.
- Your changed files are not automatically copied to the server archive.
To save backup copies of intermediate states of your work in the server archive (until you reach a desired project state for creating a version), proceed as follows:
- Save the project / file.
- Close the editor.
- Apply Quicksave.
Once you have reached a state from which you want to create a version (a documented snapshot of your project that you can return to at any time), proceed as follows:
- Save the project or file.
- Close the editor.
- Create a new version and check it in.
Info
If you only want to perform the three basic functions of the UserClient (Check-Out, edit a project in the editor, and create a new version and Check-In), you can also use the EasyClient.
