Deleting on the server

Warning

Deletion on the server cannot be undone. Even if you keep the component locally and only delete it on the server, you can no longer check it in. Versions that have been deleted on the server cannot be restored using the Copy version to directory function.

To delete directories, components or individual versions on the server, there are basically two options.

Deleting directories or components

  1. In the Project tree, select a directory or component that you want to delete on the server.
  2. Click on the Delete element on the server button in the menu bar on the Extras tab.
  3. The Delete directory/component on the server dialog opens.
  4. Here you can select whether you also want to delete the component or components of the directory locally, and in this case also delete the working directories of the components.
  5. Confirm your selection with Delete.

The directory or component will be deleted on the server.

Deleting individual versions of components

This functionality is only available if the checkbox Enable "Delete version on server" has been activated with the corresponding access rights in the AdminClient in the Global settings module under Components.

  1. In the Project tree, select a component for which several versions exist.

    The base version and the latest version of a component cannot be deleted.

  2. In the Change history area, select the version of the component that you want to delete.

  3. Click on the Delete version on server button in the menu bar on the Extras tab.
  4. The Delete version on server dialog opens.

  5. The selected version is displayed again here. Enter a comment explaining why you are deleting this version on the server.

  6. Confirm your selection with Delete.

The selected version is deleted from the server.
