Extensions tab

Register file extension for SmartImport for supplier projects

This option allows you to send Octoplant projects by email to suppliers and customers who do not use Octoplant or do not have access to your Octoplant server.

When you register this file extension, Octoplant adds an entry to the Windows registry. This lets suppliers open Octoplant delivery notes, which use the _.vdog-sdn file type, from the file manager.

Register this protocol extension to start the UserClient from a web link opened in a browser.

The web link uses the following format:

vdog:/CID:{CID}

where {CID} is the component ID.

To create a web link:

  1. Select the desired component in the Project tree and open the Details tab.
  2. Copy the displayed component ID using the context menu.
  3. Combine vdog:/CID: with the copied component ID.

    Example:

    vdog:/CID:34114F7E7C9542A3875DA1D25E5F5C09

You can register both extensions during client installation or when updating Octoplant.

Tip

If the UserClient does not open from the web link, open the UserClient manually. Then remove the protocol extension registration and register it again.

When you insert the web link into Microsoft Outlook, Outlook automatically adds an extra slash: vdog://CID.

You do not need to correct the link manually. The UserClient still opens correctly.
