Displaying information on versions

The Change history tab displays the list of versions for the component.

Each row represents a version of the component, with the counter on the left indicating the sequence in which the versions were created.

Other available information covers:

  • version number
  • local timestamp - when the version was created
  • user - who created the version
  • change comment added by the user who created the version

Additional information can be displayed by expanding the respective version using the arrow to the left of the version number.

Tip

The latest local and server version numbers are displayed in tiles at the top of the component overview.

Downloading a version

From the WebClient users can download any version within a component.

Steps to download

  1. Select the desired version.
  2. Select the Download button.

The version will be retrieved from the octoplant server.

Browser configuration

To make the most of this feature, we recommend configuring your browser to prompt for a download location. This ensures you can choose where to save the file each time.

  • If your browser is set to ask where to save files before downloading, you will be prompted to select a target location.
  • Otherwise, the file will be saved to the default location specified in your browser settings.

To enable location selection:

  1. Open your browser settings.
  2. Navigate to the Downloads section.
  3. Enable the option to choose a target location before downloading.

We suggest creating a folder structure on your computer that mirrors the folder structure within octoplant. This helps keep downloaded files organized.

Downloaded versions are saved as ZIP files, which you can access via Windows Explorer.

Restoring the device with the downloaded file

  1. Go to the folder where the zip file was downloaded.
  2. Unzip the file using Windows' built-in tool or a third-party application such as 7zip.
  3. Use your third-party software (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) to restore or download the version into the device.
