Importing CSV file

A separate dialog is available in the UserClient for importing the CSV file.

  1. Select the Easy Asset Integrator button in the menu bar on the Home tab.
  2. The Easy Asset Integrator dialog opens.

  3. In the first step, make the CSV settings:

    1. In the CSV separator dropdown menu, select the character that is used as a separator between the individual columns in the CSV file. Default: The CSV separator set by default in the AdminClient in the Global settings module (Server: Server settings and paths tab). System symbol: The list separator set by default in your Windows system.
    2. Activate/deactivate the Ignore first line (column header) checkbox, depending on whether the first row of your CSV file lists the column names or not.

      Info

If the checkbox is activated, the first row is always ignored, regardless of whether the CSV file actually contains a row with column names.

  4. Import the CSV file using the Load CSV file button. The arrow next to the Load CSV file button offers you the most recently imported CSV files for selection.

  5. The lines of the CSV file are listed in the dialog. When creating new components, the Icon_add.png symbol is displayed in the Component ID column if the component ID has not been specified and the combination of name and component directory does not yet exist in the system. In this case, the component is newly created and the component ID is automatically assigned.
Errors in the validation of the data are marked with the Icon_Error.png symbol in the column in which they occurred. You will also find an explanation of the respective error in a tooltip.
The number of errors is shown in the Status bar. If a filter is set for the display of the entries, for example according to a specific Component type or only for entries for which a job is also to be created, the number of errors in all entries and the number of errors in the displayed entries is still displayed here in brackets (example: 7 errors (5 filtered)).

  6. You can check the errors directly in the columns of the dialog or in the CSV file.

    • If you make changes directly in the dialog and save them, the currently loaded CSV file will be overwritten.
    • If you activate the Synchronize CSV file button and make changes in the currently loaded CSV file, these are applied directly to the dialog when saving. If the Synchronize CSV file button is deactivated, you must reload the file.

    Info

When saving, the CSV file is completely overwritten and encoded in Unicode, regardless of the encoding of the original file.

  7. As soon as there are no more errors in the columns of the dialog, the Start import button is activated.

  8. If you click on the Start import button, the listed components are created in the Project tree or existing components are changed accordingly and checked in on the server.

    Info

You cannot check in individual lines, but only all lines of a CSV file.

The lines that were imported without any problems are marked with the Icon_imported.png symbol.

A message is displayed that the Check-In has been carried out with the current values and the CSV file has been updated and saved.

  9. If you confirm the message with OK, the Easy Asset Integrator dialog is closed. If individual rows cannot be imported because errors occur during import, the dialog remains open and the faulty rows are listed and marked with the Icon_Warning.png symbol. The table can be saved.

Info

The rows that have already been imported are marked in the CSV file with the Imported entry in the Result column. If you want to use the file as a template for further imports, you must first remove the marking. If you only make updates to the lines and remove the Imported entry the next time you import the same file, the lines will be marked with the Icon updated symbol in the Easy Asset Integrator dialog.

In the Component log of the UserClient, components that have been imported via the Easy Asset Integrator are marked accordingly in the Message column. You can also open the Component log directly from the Easy Asset Integrator and check whether the components have been successfully imported.
