Prerequisites

The prerequisites listed here are shown as examples for an S7-1500 Controller from TIA V15 and FW2.5.

  • A license for OPC UA must be available.
  • The OPC UA server must be activated.
  • In order to restrict access to the OPC UA server, a user with appropriate rights to the variables should be created.
  • A program block must be created in which the variables are defined.
  • Variables provided via the OPC interface must be defined.
    • Command variable (trigger variable) of data type Int16: The variable must be able to be read by the octoplant server.
    • Status variable (variable for acknowledgement) of data type Int16: The variable must be writable by the octoplant server.
  • Access to the variables via OPC UA must be possible. You can check the connection to the OPC UA server via a freely available OPC client, for example.
