Creating a project structure

zenon projects can be interdependent (e.g. the Global project makes its content available to all projects in the workspace. The integration projects and sub-projects can share elements and exchange data in runtime).

To make the relationships between zenon projects visible, you should transfer the project structure from the zenon editor as a folder structure in octoplant.

Advantages of the folder structure

  • Overview and handling of the project structure, e.g. of an entire workspace, is possible
  • It is possible to save other Component types and thus assign them logically (e.g. documentation of machines).

Procedure

  1. Open the AdminClient.
  2. Go to Global settings > Components and activate Allow mixed directory structures (project in project). This setting allows you to create additional subfolders in folders with existing components.

Tip for setting up the folder structure

To illustrate the relationships between the project types, the following arrangement of the folder structure in octoplant is recommended:

Path: ..\global project\{standard dependencies}\{integration projects}\{dependant subprojects}
