Data backup methods
There are different methods of data backup. When creating images with Drive Snapshot, the Full backup and Differential backup methods are supported.
- With a full backup, all selected data is saved in an image each time the backup is performed.
- With a differential backup, only the data that has changed or been added since the last full backup is saved. A differential backup always requires a previously created full backup.
A regular differential backup uses less storage space than a full backup. However, restoring from a differential backup is slower, as it requires bost the most recent full backup and the corresponding differential backup.
Info
Differential backups can only be performed in octoplant with Drive Snapshot via the network drive. It is not possible to perform differential backups through the server archive.
