Configuring comparisons

The comparator configuration for Emerson PAC Machine edition allows you to define the scope of the comparison. You can exclude program blocks from the comparison or limit the comparison to individual program blocks. The same applies to the initial values and force values variables.

  1. Open the UserClient and go to your Proficy Machine Edition component.
  2. Press Alt+Enter or right-click on the component and select Edit component configuration or go to the Edit tab in the menu bar and select Component configuration.
  3. In the Component configuration dialog, click on the Comparator configuration ...
  4. The Comparison configuration dialog will then open.

  5. Select the desired project from the Project dropdown menu.

  6. Activate the Shared Project checkbox if the Emerson PAC Machine Edition project is set as Shared Project in the editor.

To include or exclude a Program Block for a comparison, proceed as follows:

  1. Use the radio buttons in the upper part of the Program Blocks area to select whether you want to exclude certain program blocks from the comparison or whether you want to limit the comparison to individual program blocks. Depending on the selection, the columns are named in the table below.
  2. Use the Add button to add one or more new rows.
  3. In the columns of the table, specify which program blocks you want to exclude from the comparison:
    • Excluded or Included Program Blocks: Enter the name of the program block here.
    • Check existence: Determine here whether the existence of the program block should be checked in the component.
    • Excluded or Included Rungs: Enter the rung of the program block here. Several rungs can also be specified for a program block. You can enter individual rungs (separated by ","), a range of rungs (with "-") or a combination. Example: 1, 5-8, 14.
  4. Add new program blocks using the Import button. A text field opens into which you can copy a list of program blocks. Each program block must be on a new line.

    Info

Use the placeholders (?/) in all columns. If necessary, use the Delete* button to remove a program block from the list.

Two columns are available in the Variables area in which you can exclude Initial values or Force values variables from the comparison or restrict the comparison to them.

  1. Use the checkboxes in the respective column to select whether you want to exclude certain variables from the comparison or restrict the comparison to individual variables.
  2. In the text field of the respective column, add all variables whose initial values you want to exclude from the comparison or whose initial values you want to restrict the Comparison to.

    Info

You can use placeholders (?/*) when specifying the values.

  3. Confirm by selecting OK.

The configuration made here is taken into account in the comparison between backup and version, version and version and backup and backup.
