Up to version 9.5, the supported software is called GE Proficy Machine Edition. In this tutorial, Emerson PAC Machine Edition is used for reasons of readability. For older versions, this also refers to GE Proficy Machine Edition.

Other requirements
- The use of agents is recommended for the upload of Emerson PAC Machine Edition. The same requirements apply to the agents as for the server:
- A valid installation of Emerson PAC Machine Edition is required on the server or agent.
- The server or agent must be running on the local system account with the Allow data exchange between service and desktop (user activity) option enabled.
- If you are using multiple versions of Emerson PAC Machine Edition or GE Proficy Machine Edition, you need a separate upload agent for each version.
Restrictions
- PC targets and panel targets are not supported.
- Changes to diagnostic logic blocks, FAT/SAT, supplemental files of a PLC target are not recognized.
- Current values of variables are excluded during backup/version and backup/backup comparison.
