Integrating projects¶
To integrate an existing project¶
- Create a new component in the UserClient. Select iFIX in the GE directory as the component type.
- Navigate to the iFIX project file in Windows Explorer.
- Copy the iFIX project from the source folder to the component's Working directory. In contrast to the usual procedure, please do not create a base version.
- Use the Open with editor button (shortcut F4) to open the project with Proficy iFIX.
- If the project has been copied, the editor will open the project in the old path.
- If the project has been moved, the editor will open the project in the new path. If the project has been moved, you will receive an error message.
- Acknowledge all error messages with OK.
- Because the path information is incorrect, you must close the GE Proficy iFIX editor.
- Open the editor again and the correct path will be displayed.
- Open the SCU in the Paths menu and select Application Path In Current Project Configuration > Project.
- In the path
vdClientArchive\{Directory}\{Component}\{Projectdirectory}
, create the project. - Click on the Change Project button and you will receive a message whether iFIX should create standard files in the new project.
- Click on the Yes button, then on the OK button.
- You will receive the message Not all orders set in the project exist. You now have the following application options:
- Create All button (this automatically creates all necessary folders).
- Prompt button (this prompts you for each folder whether it should be created).
- None button (no folder is created here).
- If the message No valid alarm area database file in the alarm area of the database path appears, you have the following application options:
- Proceed button (a new alarm area database file can be created in the set empty folder).
- Return button (return to the path settings and set a different folder).
- Click Save in the File menu to save the project.
- Close the SCU.
- Open the project with Open with editor (shortcut F4) in the GE Proficy iFIX editor.
- Create a base version and check it in on the server.
Create a new iFIX project¶
You have two options to create a new iFIX project: you can copy an existing project, or you can create a new, initially empty project.
To create a new project by copying an existing project¶
- Open the Startup menu in the GE Proficy iFIX Editor.
- Open the SCU with the File menu and the Save as submenu.
- Set the program path and create a new folder.
- Save the
.SCU
file (the default setting is Fix.scu). - A message appears asking whether this file should be opened on restart.
- Click on the Yes button.
- Open the menu sequence Configure > Paths > Application Path in Current Project Configuration > Project and set the current path to the project.
- Click on the Change project button and you will be asked whether iFIX standard files should be created in the new project.
- Click on the Yes button and then on the OK button.
- You will receive the message Not all orders set in the project exist. You now have the following application options to choose from:
- Create All button (this automatically creates all necessary folders).
- Prompt button (this prompts you for each folder whether it should be created).
- None button (no folder is created here).
- If the message is displayed that there is no valid alarm area database file in the alarm area of the database path, you have the following application options:
- Proceed button (a new alarm area database file can be created in the set empty folder).
- Return button (return to the path settings and set a different folder).
- Click Save in the File menu to save the project.
- Close the SCU.
- Now you can open the project with Open in editor (shortcut F4) with the Proficy iFIX editor.
- Create a base version and check it in on the server.
The project is now created and can be edited and managed.
To create a new, initially empty, iFIX project¶
- Create a folder using Windows Explorer.
- Open the SCU in the iFIX Editor with the menu sequence File > New > Configure > Paths.
- Set the current path with Application Path in Current Project Configuration > Project.
- Click on the Change Project button.
- A message appears asking whether iFix standard files should be created in the new project.
- Click on the Yes button and then on OK.
The project is now created and can be edited and managed.
