Creating jobs
- Start the AdminClient and open the Jobs module.
- Select your KUKA KR C2 component in the Project tree.
- Click on the Create button in the ribbon or drag and drop the component into the Jobs area.
- Check whether the upload type KUKA Robot is displayed in the Job configuration area.
-
Configure the general sections General, Notification, Upload and compare and Create a version automatically after job run. The sections Notification and Create a version automatically after job run are only displayed if the settings required for this have been made.
Info
If no project data has been versioned in the component, select the compare policy Previous backup <-> Backup: under Upload and compare.
-
Configure the KUKA Robot settings section.
- Under Type, select the robot type KRC2.
-
Under Device name / IP address, enter the name or IP address of the robot for which the job is to be executed.
Info
If the UNC path of the share is \KukaRobot5\Backup\octoplant\, then KukaRobot5 must be entered here.
-
For Path to project, enter the name of the windows share and the shared subfolder in in which the backups are to be stored.
Info
If the UNC path of the share is \KukaRobot5\Backup\octoplant\, then backup (without \) must be entered here.
-
For Subdirectory, enter the subdirectory of the resource in which the backups are to be stored.
Info
If the path is \KukaRobot5\Backup\versiondog\, then octoplant (without \) must be entered here. If the UNC path of the share is \KukaRobot5\Backup\ (i.e. without the subdirectory below the resource), the field remains empty.
-
For User, enter the user name under which the network share is to be accessed.
- For Password, enter the password associated with the user name.
- For Error if project is older than the time from which a warning is issued for the uncreated backup.
-
In the Advanced section, you will find the old upload method with NetworkConnectivity and other options:
- For Create backup via NetworkConnectivity, specify whether the new backup should be saved on the robot after the job has been executed or whether it should be copied to the server.
- If you have activated the Create backup via NetworkConnectivity via NetworkConnectivity checkbox, the backup is created on the robot via the NetworkConnectivity program.
-
For Keep the newly created backup on the robot, specify whether the newly created backup should be kept or deleted after the job has been executed.
Info
This option is only available if Create backup via NetworkConnectivity is activated.
-
For Limit the backup count on the robot, specify how many backups are to be retained on the robot. If the set number is exceeded, the oldest backup is deleted.
- For Trigger file resource, enter the name of the network share in which the trigger file for NetworkConnectivity is to be created.
- Under Trigger file path, enter the subdirectory and the file name under which the trigger file for NetworkConnectivity is to be created.
- Under Archive name format, specify the name format for the NetworkConnectivity to use when creating the backup.
- Use the options Sleep between packets and Maximum size of data packets (in KB) to limit the network load.
-
Configure the File specifications and compare settings section.
Info
This prevents differences from being detected due to current values for each job execution. The comparison can only be configured if project data has been versioned in the associated component.
- Activate the Enable custom configuration for this job checkbox and click on Edit, if you want to customize the comparator configuration for this job.
-
Use the Add and Remove buttons to customize the tables Compare these files and Do not compare these files.
Info
The use of placeholders is possible.
-

- In both tables, click on the corresponding field to select whether the entry in this line should also apply to files in subdirectories.
- Specify whether changes should be recognized based on the timestamp or the checksum.
- In Memory Settings under Ignore empty directories, specify whether empty directories on the device should be saved in the backup.
-
Under Compression factor:, select the compression factor for the backup.
Info
With lower compression factors, less time is required to compress the backup. This requires more storage space on the server.
-
Close the dialog with OK.
-
Save the job and execute it.
Info
The compare settings only apply to the job for which they were made. The compare settings can be applied to other jobs in the Jobs list using drag and drop.
Info
You can implement further settings for jobs of this upload type in the AdminClient in the Global settings dialog.
Procedure for a backup via NetworkConnectivity
- octoplant creates a trigger file and stores it in the configured network share.
- NetworkConnectivity creates a new backup of the version on the robot and deletes the trigger file from the network share.
- NetworkConnectivity stores a ZIP archive in the backup directory.
- The ZIP archive is copied to the server archive
- Old ZIP archives in the backup directory are deleted (optional).
