Configuring comparisons

When comparing a backup with the previous backup, it is interesting to know whether there has been a program change. If you only want to determine whether there has been a program change, you must exclude the Actual values (number of units produced, the motor temperature, etc.) from the comparison process. You also have the option to exclude Program files from the comparison.

The values are only excluded from the comparison process but not from the backup. Please note that, depending on the server settings for backups, a new backup may only be created if a difference was detected during the comparison.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Open the AdminClient.
  2. Go to Jobs.
  3. Select the component whose values you want to exclude from the job.
  4. Select the job you want to edit.
  5. Activate the Enable configuration of job-specific compare option.
  6. Click on Comparison configuration.
  7. Select the RSLogix 5 project (see figure below).

  8. Enter the name(s) of the program file(s) in the Excluded program files field and enter the actual value(s) in the Excluded data files (actual value) field.

  9. Trends are excluded by default. If you do not want to exclude them, deactivate the checkbox.

  10. Click OK.
  11. Save the changes to the job.
