Creating a project from a backup

RSLogix 5000 creates its own backups and revision files. Normally, octoplant is configured to ignore these files during comparison and when creating new versions (i.e. these backups are not included in the versioned files). If you do NOT want these backup files to be ignored, you can save the project file of an RSLogix 5000 project AND the backups created by RSLogix 5000, when you save a change made to the project. To archive the RSLogix 5000 backups, you must change your RSLogix 5000 component type so that the *_BAK???.acd files are no longer ignored during the versioning process.

Info

This change will not only be applied to this component, but also to all other components of this type. The size of your backups will grow rapidly with each new change and the archive may take up too much disk space on your server.

To change your RSLogix 5000 Component type:

  1. Open the AdminClient.
  2. Click on the Component type editor modules.
  3. In the Project tree, go to Rockwell and select the RSLogix5000 type.
  4. Select the line with *_BAK???.acd under Ignore these files. Click on it with the right mouse button and select Delete row.

Info

ALTERNATIVE: If you only want to add a previous backup to a version or data backup, you must rename the *_BAK???.*** file in your project folder. If you change or remove the BAK part of the file name, the file will no longer be ignored; it will be added to the version and backed up by octoplant.
