Configuring jobs for SEW MOVITOOLS

Prerequisites

  1. Install MOVITOOLS® MotionStudio on the server and the client. Alternatively, you can also use agents, to carry out the upload.

    .NET Framework 3.5 must be installed on the PC on which MOVITOOLS® MotionStudio is to be installed.

  2. Start the VDog MasterService or the upload or compare agent as a service.

    In the services for the VDog MasterService or VDog UploadAgent/VDog CompareAgent application, set in the Login > Local system account tab. Activate the checkbox in Allow data exchange between Service and Desktop.

    Warning

    Under Windows 10, Version 1803 or higher, no upload can be performed if data exchange between service and desktop is required. In this case, the agent or the VDog MasterService must be started as an application.

  3. Change the value NoSystemTray to DWORD = 1 for the entry in the Windows registry in the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SEW\Secos\Server.

  4. Change the value for the NoInteractiveServices entry to 0 in the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows.

  5. Make sure that the desired project is available in MOVITOOLS® MotionStudio in the online and offline view and has the same name.

  6. You can use either the new SEW MotionStudio component type or the existing SEW Movidrive type from earlier octoplant versions. If you choose the older type, update it in the AdminClient via the Component type editor to use only the MOVITOOLS® MotionStudio comparison and to compare only SEWPROJ files. Then, create a Version without difference for the relevant component.

  7. For the upload of MotionStudio v6.20, v6.30 and/or v6.40 projects, it is necessary to run the services in application mode.

    Example for the server:

    • "C:\Program Files (x86)\vdogServer\VDogMasterService.exe" /at:s /rd:D:\vdServerArchive /app /visible

    Examples for the agents:

    • "C:\Program Files (x86)\vdogAgents\VDogCompareAgent.exe" /at:s /rd:D:\vdAgentArchive /app /visible
    • "C:\Program Files (x86)\vdogAgents\VDogUploadAgent.exe" /at:s /rd:D:\vdAgentArchive /app /visible

Procedure

  1. Create a job with the SEW MotionStudio upload type.
  2. Go to the SEW MotionStudio settings section.
  3. If the component contains several projects, select the desired project from the dropdown menu.

octoplant reads the communication parameters of the device from the MOVITOOLS® MotionStudio project.
