Creating jobs

Prerequisites

A valid installation of STEP 5:

  • on the computer on which the octoplant server is installed, or (if this is not possible)
  • on a computer that can be accessed by the octoplant server application through an agent.

To create Jobs for S5 controllers

  1. Start the AdminClient and open the Jobs module.
  2. Select your S5 component in the Project tree.
  3. Select the Create button in the ribbon or drag-and-drop the component into the Jobs area.
  4. Check whether the SIMATIC S5 upload type is displayed in the Job configuration area.
  5. Configure the general sections General, Notification, Upload and compare and Create a version automatically after job run. The Notification and Create a version automatically after job runsections are only displayed if the required settings have been made.

  6. Configure the SIMATIC S5 settings section.

    1. Under Project, select the project file (S5D) for which the job is to be executed.

      Only project files that have been checked in to the selected component can be selected. If there is only one project file, it will be selected automatically.

    2. Select the Access path through which communication with the controller is to take place.

  7. Configure the Access path details section

    Depending on the selection in Access path fields are available.

  8. Configure the Backup section.

    If necessary, specify blocks that are to be ignored for this job during comparison and upload.

  9. Configure the Advanced section

    1. Specify how many retries should be performed if an error occurs when uploading a block. Values between 0 and 5 are possible.

      Info

      This can occur if the controller accesses the block during job execution and it is therefore locked. If no access is possible after the defined attempts, the job is aborted with an error.

    2. If necessary, determine how long to wait between sending data packets in order to reduce the network load.

      Values between 0 and 5000 ms are possible.

  10. Save the job and execute it.
