Configuring jobs for Siemens SINAMICS inverters
Please note the following for the upload of Siemens SINAMICS inverters:
- A mandatory prerequisite for an upload is an S7 project in which the SINAMICS devices are integrated.
-
The VDog MasterService or the agent application must be started via the command line as an application (not as a service).
To do this, enter one of the following commands (depending on your use case):
Example for the server:Example for agents:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\vdogAgents\VDogCompareAgent.exe" /at:s /rd:D:\vdAgentArchive /app "C:\Program Files (x86)\vdogAgents\VDogUploadAgent.exe" /at:s /rd:D:\vdAgentArchive /app
Info
To start the applications as an application, you must stop the VDog MasterService or the VDog UploadAgent and VDog CompareAgent, e.g. in the Service Control Manager. Then deactivate the services in Windows so that they are not restarted after the next restart of the computer. You can automate the execution as an application by creating a batch file for the call and storing it in the Autostart Directory.

The upload works with both the editors SIMOTION MICROMASTER STARTER and SIMOTION SCOUT.
- The upload and comparison must be carried out with the same editor with which the project was created.
- SIMOTION MICROMASTER STARTER or SIMOTION SCOUT must be installed and licensed on the computer on which the upload is executed.
- Both programs cannot be installed at the same time on one computer. If the user has both project types, upload and compare agents must be used.
- It is not possible to run several upload jobs for SINAMICS at the same time.
- During restore, the
AppLogfile.txt
file lands in the directory in addition to the S7 project. This is generated by SIMOTION MICROMASTER STARTER / SIMOTION SCOUT and contains detailed information about the upload. - No upload can be performed for devices of type IO-Device.
Procedure
- Create a job with the SINAMICS upload type.
- Go to the Sinamics settings section.
- If the component contains several projects, select the desired project from the dropdown menu.
The backup created is identical to the project created by SINAMICS Editor.
Info
If a DCC plan folder is versioned and checked in in the offline project and not copied to the SINAMICS inverter (the folder therefore does not exist online), the DCC plan folder appears in the new backup after the job has been executed.
