Installing a gateway for network transitions¶
If your SINUMERIK system is only connected to the internal machine network, the NCU for octoplant can only be accessed using the PCU (HMI-PC). In this case, install the gateway on the PCU (HMI-PC).
The figure shows a schematic representation of a gateway installation for a SINUMERIK 840D solutionline with a suitable INI file for the example.
Important notes on the gateway¶
- A maximum of one gateway can be active on one computer.
- The gateway can - through appropriate configurations - take over several tasks, e.g. the routing of communication to agents and a CSC network transition for clients.
- The gateway is usually installed on the HMI of your SINUMERIK 840D.
- You must parameterize the gateway using the
VDogGateway.ini
file.
Assignment of IP addresses¶
The following instructions apply to the SINUMERIK solutionline (usual connection path (0346) PC > [TCP/IP] > network transition > [TCP/IP] > NC**
).
The IP address of the octoplant server, the IP addresses of the clients and the IP address of the NCU are entered in the VDogGateway.ini file. As the octoplant server assumes the role of a Client from the perspective of the NCU, you must assign the IP addresses as follows:
IP address | keyword |
---|---|
IP address, octoplant server | IPADDRESSESCLIENT |
IP address clients | IPADDRESSESCLIENT |
IP address of the NCU | IPADDRESSSERVER |
After successfully installing the octoplant Gateway, start the service VDog Gateway again.
