Configuring the comparison for the component

Info

The comparator for the component can only be configured if the component contains project data.

  1. In the UserClient, select the component that you want to configure.
  2. Select the Edit tab in the menu bar or right-click the component and select Edit component configuration from the context menu.
  3. In the Component configuration dialog, select the Comparator configuration button. The Comparison configuration dialog will now open.

The Comparison configuration dialog looks slightly different for the different component types. The specific settings are described in the tutorials for the individual devices.

  4. Select OK to confirm.

  5. In the Component configuration dialog, select Apply to save the change.

Configuring the comparison for individual jobs

You can configure file comparison settings to exclude certain file types from comparisons to prevent unnecessary differences from being detected each time the job runs.

To do this, go to the AdminClient > the Jobs module > Job configuration area.

These settings only apply to the job, or which they were made. The compare settings can be applied to other jobs in the Jobs list by dragging and dropping them.

  1. Start the AdminClient and open the Jobs module.
  2. Select the job you want to configure.
  3. Go to the File specifications and compare settings section in the Job configuration area.
  4. Select the Enable custom configuration for this job checkbox and select Edit.
  5. The Settings for backup files dialog will then open.
  6. Use the Add and Remove buttons to customize the Compare these files and Do not compare these files tables.
  7. In the Compare these files table select the compare class from the drop-down list.
  8. In both tables, select whether the entry in this line should also apply to files in subdirectories.
  9. If this is available for the corresponding comparator, you can make further settings using the Configure comparator button.
  10. Specify whether changes should be recognized based on the timestamp or the checksum.
  11. Under Settings for saving, specify whether empty directories on the device should be saved in the backup.
  12. Under Compression factor, select the compression factor for the backup. With lower compression factors, less time is required to compress the backup. This requires more storage space on the server.
  13. Confirm with OK.
