Restoring devices

If a device fails or an unauthorized change to the program has been detected during job execution, the device needs to be restored. There are two options for this.

  • Restore with a version

You can always restore a device with a version, if the version on the server is newer than the version on the device.

  • Restore with a backup
This option can be an alternative if a new backup is created during job execution and the latest version is therefore available.

Backups created by an octoplant job are not always suitable to restore a device. The information whether a backup is suitable for a restore or not is available on the overview page of the device (Restorable backup).

Restoring with a version

If a version of the project data was stored on the server, you can restore it to the device.

  1. In the UserClient, select the corresponding component of the project that you want to restore.
  2. Check-out the component version.
  3. Open the project with the corresponding editor.
  4. Carry out a restore according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Restoring with a backup

  1. Select the relevant component in the UserClient.
  2. In the Component details area, in the Jobs tab, select the job whose backup you want to restore.
  3. Select the backup in the Job results area and then select Copy backup to directory in the context menu or in the menu bar.
  4. Select the directory to which the backup is to be copied.
  5. Open the backup with the corresponding editor.
  6. Carry out a restore according to the manufacturer's instructions.
