Microsoft Word¶
A licensed installation of Microsoft Word on the octoplant server or an agent is required for a comparison of documents. The comparator for Microsoft Word is integrated in the Word and Documentation component types.

If you only want to backup Word documents in your component, the Word component type is recommended. When backing up documents that were created with different editors, the Documentation component type is recommended because it integrates also the Binary, ASCII, Excel, PDF and Word comparators.
You can find the Word component type in the Microsoft folder.
You can find the Documentation component type in the _Universal folder.

The comparators of the Word and Documentation component types support the file formats doc, doc?, dot, dot? and rtf. The question mark ? stands for all possible endings of the respective file format.
