Restore BECKHOFF TwinCAT V2 controllers

Restoring from a backup requires expert knowledge.

A backup should only be restored to the machine from which it was originally created. The TwinCAT runtime version and platform must be identical to those on the backup (you can check this in the Event log for the job).

  1. Start the Config mode on the controller (right-click on System > Config in the taskbar).
  2. The Boot folder of the controller is located at C:\TwinCAT\{TwinCAT Version}(e.g. 3.1)\Boot.
  3. Create a backup of the Boot folder for security.
  4. Delete the contents of the Boot folder.
  5. Copy the contents of the Boot folder from the backup to the Boot folder of the controller.
  6. Start Run mode on the controller (right-click on System > Start in the taskbar).
