Configure jobs for Bosch Rexroth CtrlX

  1. Create a job with the Bosch CtrlX upload type.
  2. In the IP address field under Bosch CtrlX settings, enter the device name or its IP address.
  3. In the User and Password fields, enter the credentials for the user account used to access the device.
  4. In the Port field, enter the outgoing port used to establish the connection. The default value is 8443.
  5. Enter an Archive password.

The created backup may contain sensitive configuration elements such as custom certificates and certificate keys. These items can only be restored on the same physical device. Secrets are included in the backup only when a password is provided, which is why an archive password is mandatory.

  6. Include or exclude application files using the corresponding checkbox.

CtrlX is built on a Linux-based platform and supports a wide range of add-ons and applications that can be downloaded from the Bosch Rexroth App Store, including the PLC runtime. These downloaded components are referred to as application files. Because these files can be quite large, they are typically excluded from certain backup operations.

The backup is a ZIP file that contains the components of the CtrlX system, including the PLC. Instead of a single monolith image, the backup is modular and reflects the system’s flexible, app-based architecture.

A detailed overview of all installed components is included in the backup’s description file (a .json file). This file provides a complete list of the backup contents and serves as a reliable reference for identifying which applications, settings, and system elements are part of the saved configuration.

You can use the backup to restore the system.
