  • When using firmware revision 32, it may not be possible to create a backup. Error messages may occur during job execution. This is a known behavior. If you experience this, we recommend using a different revision of the firmware and running the job again.

Requirements

  • To perform uploads, ensure the following software versions are installed on the same machine where the octoplant server or agent is running:

    • RSLogix 5000 (version 10.x or later, Standard and Professional Edition)
    • RSLinx Classic (version 3.51 or later) or FactoryTalk Linx (formerly RSLinx Enterprise Edition)
  • If you are upgrading to FactoryTalk Linx:

    • Uninstall RSLinx Classic before starting the upgrade.
    • Manually reconfigure the communication path in the Job configuration section.
    • If you are using agents, make sure they are running with administrative privileges.
  • You can find the system requirements for RSLogix 5000 on the Rockwell Automation website.

  • To support uploads, the VDog MasterService, VDog UploadAgent, and VDog CompareAgent services must not run under the LocalSystem account. Use an administrator account or another account with administrative rights.

  • To ensure reliable communication, it is recommended to launch either the agent or the VDog MasterService (whichever is in use for this device) as an application, under the following conditions:

    • If RSLogix software is installed on a different machine, agents are required on that machine.
    • Agents must be capable of launching and interacting directly with the RSLogix software.
    • The setup requires both administrative rights and access to the user interface.

For detailed instructions, see Starting agents and VDog MasterService as applications.
