Integrate S7 multiprojects from SIMATIC manager
Example project
These instructions use an example project that includes:
- A directory named S7 Multiproject
- An S7 multiproject component named Multiprj
- Two S7 projects: S7-300 and S7-400
- A library: MultiPrjLib
Procedure
- In the UserClient, create a directory named S7 Multiproject.
- Create the components of the S7 multiproject in the S7 Multiproject directory: - Multiprj (component type: Simatic S7 Multiprojekt)
- MultiPrjLib (component type: Simatic S7 Library)
- S7-300 (component type: Simatic S7)
- S7-400 (component type: Simatic S7)
Info When creating a component, assign the appropriate component type for the project. See Component Mapping for proper assignment.
- Paste the project data into the designated component in the Project tree of the UserClien. Tip You can drag and drop the content from the Windows Explorer. For the example project: - Copy the project data from Multiprj to the S7 multiproject component.
- Copy the project data from MultiPrjLib to the MultiPrjLib component.
- Copy the project data from S7-300 to the S7-300 component.
- Copy the project data from S7-400 to the S7-400 component.

- Open the S7 multiproject in the UserClient using Open with editor (F4). In SIMATIC Manager, S7 projects, libraries, WinCC and WinCC flexible projects appear grayed out and the notes not available are displayed instead. When merging projects and libraries into S7 multiprojects, absolute paths are saved in the multiproject header file (.s7f). Moving the S7 multiproject to the UserClient requires that paths are modify to make the projects available again.
- Modify the paths of the multiproject by re-inserting the S7 projects and libraries into the S7 multiproject in SIMATIC Manager. S7 projects and libraries must be inserted individually into a multiproject. If an S7 project contains a WinCC or WinCC flexible project, it is automatically included when the S7 project is inserted. In the example, S7-300, S7-400, and MultiPrjLib must be added one after the other. Steps: - Right-click the multiproject folder in the SIMATIC Manager project tree (in this example, the folder is named MultiPrj).
- In the context menu, select Multiproject -> Insert into multiproject....
- In the Add to multiproject dialog, select Browse....
- In the Browse dialog, navigate to the client archive and select the S7 project that you want to re-insert into the S7 multiproject.
- Select OK to accept the path and re-insert the selected project.
- Confirm any prompts with Yes.
Repeat as needed for other S7 projects or libraries.
- After adjusting the paths, close SIMATIC Manager. Save your data if you made any changes.
- Return to the S7 Multiproject directory in the UserClient, version the project data, and check it in.
The S7 multiproject is integrated and can be managed. Now you can create new versions and backup the contents automatically.
