Configuring jobs for Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7
- Create a job with the SIMATIC S7 upload type.
-
Go to the SIMATIC S7 settings section.
-
If the component contains several project files, select the desired project from the S7 program path dropdown menu.
-
Under Access path, select the access path used to communicate with the controller.
The Access path details section updates automatically based on the selected access path.
You can find descriptions of the supported access paths on the Configuring the access path page.
-
Go to the Backup section.
-
Select the Use timestamp to reduce network traffic checkbox to transfer only new and modified program blocks. The system uses timestamps to detect changes. It transfers unchanged blocks from the previous backup.
-
Click into the Blocks excluded from upload field, to exclude specific blocks from the upload.
- In the Edit excluded blocks dialog, select the Exclude system blocks (SDB) checkbox.
-
From the Type dropdown menu, select any additional block types (DB, FB, FC, OB). Define the range using the From and To fields, or select the All blocks checkbox to exclude all.
-
Go to the Advanced section.
-
Select the SIMATIC NET checkbox, if SIMATIC NET is installed in the network transition and is to be used.
Info
This option is only available for connection paths with network transition.
-
Define the TCP/IP port via which the connection with the S7 Controller is to be established.
Port 102 is set by default. Select a different port, if it is already being used by another application and enable it in your firewall if necessary.
-
Select the Enter CPU password manually checkbox, to enter the password for access to a protected CPU.
Info
This option is only required if the password is not stored in the selected S7 project. The entry of the password in the Job configuration area has priority over the password in the S7 project.
-
In the Number of repeats if upload of a block fails field, specify how many times the system should retry the upload if an error occurs. Such errors can happen when the controller accesses the block during job execution, causing it to be locked.
Values between 0 and 5 are possible. If no access is possible after the defined attempts, the job is aborted with an error.
-
In the the Sleep interval between data packets (in ms) field, adjust the network load.
Values between 0 and 5000 ms are possible.
