Supported SINUMERIK 840D HMI Advanced connection paths
The most common network connection paths for access from the octoplant server to the SINUMERIK system are shown below.
You can select these as the access path in the job configuration and configure the details.
Access paths
(0341) PC > [TCP/IP] > Gateway > [MPI/PROFIBUS] > NC
- This path involves a TCP/IP connection through a gateway to an MPI/PROFIBUS network, providing access to the Numerical Control (NC) unit.
- Commonly used in SINUMERIK Powerline systems.
(0381) PC > [MPI/PROFIBUS] > NC
- A direct MPI/PROFIBUS connection from the PC to the NC.
- Used in configurations where no intermediate network transition is required.
(0382) PC > [MPI/PROFIBUS] > Gateway > [MPI/PROFIBUS] > NC
- Involves an MPI/PROFIBUS connection through a gateway to transition within the MPI/PROFIBUS network.
- Applicable for complex network topologies in SINUMERIK Powerline systems.
(0346) PC > [TCP/IP] > Gateway > [TCP/IP] > NC
- Uses a TCP/IP network transition via a gateway to connect to the NC.
- Typically used for SINUMERIK Solution Line systems.
(0342) PC > [TCP/IP] > Converter > [MPI] > NC
- Establishes a TCP/IP connection through a converter, which then interfaces with the MPI network for NC access.
- Useful when the direct MPI interface is not available on the PC.
(0343) PC > [TCP/IP] > Converter > [PROFIBUS] > NC
- Uses a TCP/IP connection through a converter to interface with the PROFIBUS network before reaching the NC.
- Suitable for systems requiring a PROFIBUS intermediary.
Info
- Ensure correct gateway and converter configurations when selecting an access path that involves network transitions.
- Check compatibility with the SINUMERIK 840D Powerline or Solution Line systems before applying an access path.
- Use diagnostic tools available within octoplant to verify and troubleshoot connection paths if necessary.
