Configuring Siemens TIA Portal Software upload jobs

Warning

Under Windows 11, problems may occur during job execution with the Software upload variant.

Requirements for executing a software upload

  • The Software upload software can either be executed on the same computer as the octoplant server or on an agent. We recommend that the Software upload software and comparison are carried out on a computer with agents. Ensure that:
    • All modules used by the TIA Portal project are installed and additionally Step7 Pro
    • All installed components of TIA Portal are licensed
    • The installed version of TIA Portal is identical to the version with which the project was created
  • Siemens TIA Portal Openness must be installed.
  • The user account that executes the VDog MasterService or the agents must have local administrative rights. This user account must be a member of the Siemens TIA Portal Openness group.
  • When using Siemens TIA 15.1 or older via TIA Openness, either the agent or the VDog MasterService (depending on which is in use) must be launched as an application, under the following conditions:
    • Must not run under the LocalSystem account.
    • A user must be logged in.
    • The screen must remain unlocked.
  • The project language of the projects on the octoplant server and on the PLC must match. If the language of the projects differs, neither the software upload nor station upload will be successful.
  • The screen saver must be deactivated.
  • The Windows user must always be logged in and the screen must not be locked.
  • In TIA Portal, the option: Load last opened project on startup must be deactivated.

  • The project that is to be saved must have previously been online on the TIA Portal device.

  • The checked-in TIA project must meet the following requirements:

    • No individual CPUs may be located in subfolders of the TIA Portal project tree.
    • An IP address must be assigned to the interface. The IP Protocol option (Allow adjustment of the IP address directly on the device) must be deactivated. Ensure that all online settings are correct:
    • Establish an online connection with the project on the computer that is to execute the job (Server or Agent) using TIA Portal. (The extended configuration dialog must not be displayed).
    • It is essential that TIA Portal can establish a connection to the device. For example, if there is a NAT router between octoplant Server and CPU, TIA Portal must be installed on an Agent that is in the same network as the CPU.

    Warning

octoplant controls and executes the TIA Portal job automatically. While the Job is running, you must not press any button or click with the mouse.
