Transition to octovision

By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth transition from octoplant hub to octovision, preserving your critical data while adapting to an advanced solution tailored for future needs.

Understand the need for a new installation

octovision is a fundamentally different solution that leverages new technical capabilities. A fresh installation of octovision is required.

Ensure that your infrastructure meets the new system's requirements. Refer to the octovision system requirements.

Uninstall octoplant hub

Follow the steps in Deinstallation. Note that the config file config.yml cannot be imported in octovision. Keep any custom values you need to migrate, and export or record them before uninstalling octoplant hub.

Install or update octoplant

Install or update octoplant to version 106.0 or later on servers that will connect to octovision. Note that octovision requires octoplant 106.0 or higher for compatibility.

Install octovision

Follow the Install octovision to set up the new system. Ensure that all prerequisites are met and that the installation is performed according to best practices:

  • Avoid running multiple applications on the same server.
  • Configure the firewall for the communication between octoplant server/client and octovision: outgoing port 443.

Reconfigure general settings in octovision

Enter the following configurations manually:

  • Users: Create user accounts as required.
  • Roles: Define roles and assign appropriate permissions to ensure proper access controls.
  • Connected servers: Add the different servers that your system interacts with.

For more information, refer to the octovision system configuration.

Upload metadata from octoplant servers

Once the installation is complete, initiate the metadata upload process. This step will ensure that all historical shop floor data is transferred to octovision seamlessly.

For detailed instructions on setting up the data upload, follow the instructions under octoplant data package.

Verify system functionality

Once reconfiguration is complete, conduct thorough testing of the new octovision installation to ensure all functionalities are operating as expected and that all data has been successfully migrated.

Training and adoption

Provide training sessions for your team on the new features and capabilities of octovision. This will facilitate a smooth transition and enable everyone to leverage the new system effectively.
