Moving a server¶
- Stop the VDog MasterService.
- Uninstall the versiondog server.
-
Copy the server archive to the new storage location.
If you are working with a remote server archive, you still have a local server archive on the computer on which the server is installed. The local server archive is created automatically and contains the required metadata. When moving the server, you must copy both server archives, the local and the remote one.
Enter the path of the new remote archive in the local server archive. Make sure that the remote archive is accessible after the versiondog server has been moved.
-
Reinstall the versiondog server with the existing server archive.
- If the directory structure of the new server differs from the old server, this can be adjusted in the
Server.ini
file ({server archive} > VD$A > Configuration
) in the [Common] section in the following keys:- 5508: Path to the remote server archive
- 5509: Path to the client setup
- 5521: Path to the agent setup
Info
When moving the versiondog server, the system ID changes. The versiondog license must be reactivated.
To receive a new activation code, send us the new system ID after successfully completing the server move. You can find the system ID in the AdminClient > Licensing dialog > Activation tab > System-ID field.
On the new versiondog server:
- Check the server installation for the most important functions:
- Check-In/Check-Out
- Project structure
- Event display
- Jobs
- Release the relevant ports.
- Add the required URLs to the firewall whitelist.
