Parallel server system: Restoring data (the complete system fails)¶
Example scenario: Complete data destruction of both server systems in parallel server operation. The parallel server operation is to be restored with minimal data loss. Ideally, there will be no data loss.
Prerequisites¶
- The two servers A and B have been set up again after the failure so that the versiondog server can be installed. The existing versiondog system has been uninstalled on both servers and is no longer available.
- The user restoring the Data backup has administrative rights on the server system.
Process¶
- Restore the backed up data to the
vdServerArchive
directories of both servers. If there is a remote archive, copy it to thevdServerArchive
directory of the remote share. - Server A: Install the versiondog server applications using the
Setup.exe
file from the versiondog setup directory. During installation, select the option Server with existing server archive to include the backed-up server archive. - Server B: Install the versiondog server applications using the
Setup.exe
file from the versiondog setup directory. During installation, select the option Server with existing server archive to include the secured server archive.
Warning
We recommend that the installation with existing server archive is carried out with the same versiondog version that was used to create the server archive.
